ABOUT LAIMA SOMATICS

Open oyster shell with a shiny interior and textured exterior

IN COMING HOME TO MYSELF, I HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT I AM CREATING MY LIFE IN EVERY MOMENT

“I want to fall in love with myself. I want to dive deep into my own material. The things I am curious about. The things I am weaving together. I am a diver unto myself. The treasures I bring up are the treasures that I share with the world.

How do I follow myself? Get swallowed up by myself? Become obsessed with myself? I want this to be my project.

What am I curious about? How can I chase those things down? What is my research project?

There is really no excuse for being bored at home.”

MEET LAIMA, the MUSE

Laima (pronounced “lime-a”) is the Lithuanian goddess of weaving; of fate, luck, beauty, and magic. Her name derives from the Lithuanian word “laimé” meaning good fortune. She is the parallel of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, and is much like the figures of the three fates (the moirai in Greek mythology / the three norns in Norse mythology) in one archetype – spinning thread, measuring it, and cutting it to determine human fates + fortunes.

The fates are the goddesses who ensure that every being, mortal or divine, live out their destiny as assigned to them by the universe.

Laima decides what the highest expression of a newborn’s life will consist of. Will we be brave enough to follow the threads she has tenderly spun for us?

“Tantra” = “to weave”

“Yoga” = “to yoke” / “to unite” - as in, to yoke soul and body together

“Soma” = the body — our doorway

My own healing journey, the threads of my work, and my philosophy as a coach and guide

Our Western culture wants us to believe that we are working, every day, to build a future, better version of ourselves — one that will have more money and success, and therefore more happiness. Having grown up in a world of privilege, where all of my needs and desires were met almost immediately, I know intimately that material comforts, while helpful for navigating the world, are not the key to inner peace or happiness. Over the last twelve years, through multiple dark nights of the soul, I have been on a journey of truth-seeking: what is it that allows us to find joy, peace, and fulfillment on this magical planet?

My seeking has taken me on vision quests in the desert, to silent meditation retreats, to herbalism school, through multiple yoga trainings, and on many psychedelic journeys.

My relationships with plants, with god/goddess/the universe, with my friends and beloveds, and with my own somatic therapist have been the doorways to healing much of the childhood, ancestral and cultural trauma that was keeping me from the truth of who I am. After years of seeking outside of myself, I know now how to find home and aliveness from within my own body. It is my deepest honor to help my clients along the path of healing their own trauma, of awakening to their true natures, and of learning how to integrate this into the everyday challenges of living in our messy, beautiful world.

MY PHILOSOPHY

01.

Our lives are our mirrors. The challenges we face are our deepest teachers, if we can learn to meet them and sit beside them.

02.

A world in which every person grows up learning to follow the sacred voice of soul is a healed world.

03.

Magic is real. Bliss is too.

04.

We can meet ourselves in past timelines and heal the present + future.

05.

You were born to feel the satisfaction of a live lived deeply, courageously.
